York Adventure Club to Run ABSA Cape Epic Training Camp

Max Knox

York Adventure Club is set to host a training camp for all mountain bike enthusiasts wanting to train with experienced cyclists ahead of the Cape Epic this year. Jakes van Staden from Cyclejunkies will host the York Adventure Club Cape Epic Training Camp from 19 to 21 February in the scenic Sabie countryside.

The training camp involves 3 days of mountain biking, covering between 60km and 90km of challenging terrain with an average of 2000m climbing per day. Participants will be assisted with a back-up vehicle and a driver and mechanic, as well as bike wash and lube services daily.

With his comprehensive knowledge and experience of the Cape Epic, SA MTB Champ and multiple Cape Epic top 10 finisher Max Knox will also be there to give cyclists tips on racing preparation, execution and strategy, and insider information that will be invaluable to both serious and non-competitive riders.

At a cost of R500 per day, cyclists can sign up to be part of this training camp that is accepting a maximum of 20 riders per day. Although accommodation is not included in the package, refreshments and light lunches will be provided en route each day.

Riders are then able to complete their training camp by entering the Sabie Classic Ultra (120km) or Marathon (75km) on Saturday and the Half Marathon (45km) on Sunday.
