Restitution of Land Rights Amendment Bill gazetted for public comment
The main purpose of the Bill is to make provision for the reopening of the claim process until 31st
December 2018. Interestingly, the Bill also provides for the lodging
of a fraudulent claim to be made an offence and the "cost" to the state
of purchasing the land claimed and the "ability" of claimants to use
restored land are now criteria to be used by the Court when deciding on a
claim. The latter are positive developments.
will draft a submission. As the deadline for submissions is 22 June 2013,
please send any comments you have through to myself on
by 12 June 2013 latest.
