Invitation to an ICFR Mpumalanga Regional Field Day - Sabie area 

The ICFR is planning another of its field days - this time in the Mpumalanga Region, and the event will be held at Sabie on Thursday 24th May, at the Sabie Country Club.

Attached please find the programme for this event.

  • Some of the work discussed at a recent ICFR seminar on Plantation Forestry and Climate Change will be presented.
  • The programme also includes a presentation on the impact of residue management on wildfire movement and resultant damage using a case study from KwaZulu-Natal.
  • In addition, there will be talks showing preliminary data from the ICFR's late rotation fertilisation research on pine sawtimber, and as how knowledge gained from the Dukuduku process trial in Zululand has implications for site productivity and management in the Mpumalanga region.
  • Other talks include an introduction to Bedrock MS as well as an update on some of the FESA research initiatives.
  • The field component will include an update on the operational aspects with regards to the biological control of Sirex, as well as an demonstration of the inoculation process.
