Invitation to an ICFR Central Regional Field Day
In addition to the upcoming ICFR field day we are hosting in the
KwaZulu-Natal midlands at Dalton on Wed 3 October, the ICFR is also
invites you to a field day in the Central region.
This Central Regional Field Day
be held on Thursday 18th

the programme for this event.
The programme includespresentations on research into testing
various alternatives to paraquate dichloride (Gramoxone) for preparing tracer
belts, and results from a study looking at the interaction of hydrogels,
water and fertiliser compared to dry
There will also be a talk onPrecision Forestry around the effect of irregular stand structures
on tree growth, crown extension and branchiness of plantation grown P. patula.
Presentations on pests include atalk by the ICFR on results
from a trial assessing chemical and biological products to potentially
control white grub, as well as a talk by TPCP onchallenges and
opportunitiesof managing some of theinsect pests of Eucalyptus.
Other presentations include a talk on the effect of compaction treatments and residue
management on soil
properties and seedling
growth of Eucalypts on granite-derived soils, as well as an
update on FESA research
and a discussion on aspects of compartment
Thanks to the generous support of Willie Gevers, we will be
visiting his property and he will present a talk on mulching for the future.
