Invitation: ICFR/SAIF Seminars

Please join us for two excellent seminars coming up in August that promise to generate much discussion and interest! These events are jointly hosted by the ICFR and the KZN branch of the SAIF and all are welcome to attend.

The first seminar is entitled:

  • Size counts! An account of a forestry study tour to the southern states of Brazil - an intriguing country of paradox, extremes and excess, yet still sharing important parallels to South Africa.

This will be given by Rob Thompson & Craig Norris (NCT) and Dr Julian Chan (ICFR) on Friday 12 August 2016, at 14h30 for 14h45 -16h00 in the ICFR Conference Room, ICFR, Pietermaritzburg, UKZN, Carbis Rd.

The seminar covers the experience of the three Pietermaritzburg based forestry practitioners in undertaking a study tour of the southern regions of Brazil during June 2016.

Also at this event, the KZN branch of the SAIF will recognise some of the recent awards made to members following the national AGM meeting in Mpumalanga.

The second seminar:

  • The second seminar will be held on Tuesday 16 August, also at the ICFR in Pietermaritzburg, and is a presentation by well know forestry expert Dr Fred Kruger who will give a talk entitled 150 Years of Forest History in South Africa: Does this help us to think about Forestry's future?

The seminar also begins at 14h30 for 14h45 -16h00.
